In psychology, maturity is the ability to respond to the environment in an appropriate manner. Maturity also encompasses being aware of the correct time and place to behave and knowing when to act, according to the circumstances and the culture of the society one lives in. There is the idea of access, when you reach maturity, you are allowed access to things, but the things you have newly access to, are as much having access to you. Remember the banks with their infantilizing campaigns and funny mascots that start flirting with you at school, at an age when you aren’t even sexually ripe. Marketing strategies are violent behind the smile of your funny looking key-holder.

Fed-up with the photo shoot, my nephew just raised his middle finger at me. The ability to say ‘no’, to oppose yourself to what’s being done to you, stating your disagreement towards a situation, could be seen as a spontaneous and radical sign of maturity.
